A metronome for hard passages
Speed up only after you play it clean.
Metronio is a metronome that keeps a log. For each hard passage it holds a tempo ladder: play a run, say whether it was clean, and after a few clean runs in a row the tempo moves up one step. A run that was not clean starts the count again.

Three clean runs in a row at 72 BPM, and the next session starts at 76.
Instead of a metronome app and pencil marks
Fast and sloppy
Practising a passage faster than you can play it cleanly mostly practises the mistakes. The ladder will not move until the runs are clean.
Where was I?
Pencil marks on the score say 72 — last week, or last month? Each passage keeps its own tempo and the date you last played it.
Progress you cannot see
A hard passage improves a few BPM at a time. The chart shows every run at its tempo, so the slow climb is visible.
How it works
- Add a piece and its hard passages. Name the bars — “33–40, left-hand run” — and set a start tempo you can play clean, a target, and the size of each step.
- Play to the click. The metronome starts at the passage’s current rung. Accent on beat one; subdivisions if you want them.
- Rate every run. Clean or not clean, one tap (or C and X on a keyboard). Three clean in a row, by default, and the ladder moves up a step.
- Look back. A chart for each passage, a summary for each day: runs, how many were clean, and which passages moved up.
What is in it
Passage list per piece
Every piece you are learning, with its hard spots listed under it and where each one is on its ladder.
Metronome with ladder steps
Start tempo, target tempo, step size and the number of clean runs needed, set per passage. Slow it down to warm up; those runs are logged but do not count.
Clean / not clean
Your own rating after every run. The ladder only listens to that, so speed never gets ahead of accuracy.
BPM progress chart
Every run as a dot at its tempo, green or red, with the ladder’s rung drawn through them and the target marked.
Daily practice summary
What today came to: runs, clean runs, time with the metronome on, and which passages moved up. By email too, if you ask for it.

Snap the bars on the music stand so the passage list shows the music, not just bar numbers. Needs a free account.
Try it on the passage you are stuck on
Add one piece and one passage, set the start tempo where you can play it clean, and rate a few runs.

Questions
Do I need an account?
No. The demo is the app: everything you add is kept in this browser. Create a free account when you want it on another device or kept safe; what is already on this device comes with you.
What counts as clean?
You decide. Most teachers mean right notes, steady with the click, and the sound you intended. Be strict and the ladder means something.
Can the tempo go down?
Not by itself. If you have been away or a step was too big, move the ladder down by hand; the clean-run count starts again.
Does it listen to me play?
No. There is no microphone and no automatic scoring. The rating is yours.
What does the practice note send to Claude?
The piece and passage names, the ladder settings and recent runs — never your notes or photos — and only when you press the button.
